Community Outreach

In addition to participating in Lions Club International charities and foundations, the Plant City Lions Club also contributes to many local services

  • Academic Scholarships at Plant City, Durant, and Strawberry Crest High Schools.
  • Southeastern Guide Dogs — Guide Dogs' mission is to offer, free of charge, a unique opportunity to achieve independent travel with safety and dignity to blind men and women, through the use of professionally and humanely trained guide dogs.
  • Local Sight Conservation
  • Leo Club – A high school-based service club for both young men and women, Leo Club educates students on the importance of life-long community service.
  • Diabetes Foundation
  • LCI – Melvin Jones Fellowship
  • Strawberry Festival Queen and Queen's Court Scholarship
  • Conklin Center for Multi-Handicapped Blind – The center is a major project of the Florida Lions Club.
  • Meals on Wheels – This nationally known service benefits locally from donations by the Plant City Lions Club.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs – To enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens.
  • Lighthouse Ministries– Our biggest desire is to see those individuals we serve to reach an overall outcome of God’s peace, life purpose, and fulfillment of potential. We go to where the need is, whether it’s on the streets, in our stores, or in the community.
  • United Food Bank of Plant City – The mission of the United Food Bank and Services of Plant City is to provide assistance for the needy in moving them from a “state of hunger” and “impoverishment” to self-sufficiency, empowerment, and self-reliance.
  • Wills Peters Exceptional Center – WPEC provides educational programs and support for students with a wide range of disabilities between the ages 3 and 22.
